This is one of those books that presents a puzzle that demands a solution.... This book presents a compulsion to see it through to the end. If that's not the best thing the introduction to a series can do, I don't know what is.

EDIT: ...The Sourcebook that comes with the first volume of The Victorian if you order straight through the publisher helps to clear up a few of the more vague plot points as well as the characters and their roles.

Overall: 5 stars.
